Tips for office goers to stay safe during Covid-19 surge
Earlier, a little cough or slight fever would not mean an off day. But now, if you are feeling unwell and showing symptoms of coronavirus, you should stay home to reduce the risk of infecting others. Here’s what else you can do if you are going to the office to reduce the risk of Covid-19.
1. Wear a mask
It’s time to mask up, especially if you’re in close proximity to other people, says Dr Goyal. Choose a mask that fits you well and covers your nose as well as mouth.
2. Wash your hands frequently
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.
3. Practice social distancing
Make sure you maintain a distance of at least six feet from others in the office, and avoid areas that are crowded.
4. Avoid touching your face
There are times when we rub our eyes or touch our mouth. But don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible to reduce the risk of infection.
5. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces
Doorknobs, light switches and keyboards are some of the surfaces that you frequently touch in office. So, just disinfect them from time-to-time.
6. Use contactless payment methods
Try not to use cash as much as possible and go for contactless payment methods. You never know where that notes or coins have been.
7. Take breaks outside
If possible, take your breaks outdoors to get some fresh air and reduce your exposure to others, says the expert.
8. Follow company’s safety protocols
Company safety protocols or Covid-19 guidelines must already be in place to reduce the risk of infection in the workplace. The least you can do is follow them.
9. Get all doses of Covid-19 vaccine
Getting vaccinated is the most effective way to protect yourself against Covid-19. If you have just got the first dose of the vaccine, it’s time to go for the second one too, and then follow it up with a booster shot.
Don’t wait for another lockdown to raise your guard! Your safety is in you hands.
